10 things to do when you are working on a sink installation

There are many ways to install a new  sink. Sink installation varies depending on the type of sink you have, the plumbing locations available for hookups, and where it will be located in your home.

If you are thinking about installing one yourself, here are 10 important things to do before you begin:

1) Check Sink Depth -- Sinks come in standard depths (8", 12" or 15"), but check yours first. If it's deeper than 15 inches, hire a professional installer.

2) Measure Sink Location -- Sink location is another thing that should be checked before installation begins. Spend time measuring the distance from the faucet holes to the drain pipe openings; this will help ensure everything fits properly.

3) Check Sink Drain Location -- Sinks have a drain hole on the bottom, so check its location before ordering a new faucet. Some models require you to purchase a special kit for installing the drain in a basement or another area that's not near your kitchen sink.

4) Make Sure Sink is Level -- Sinks come with adjustable feet, but if they aren't adjustable, use shims under the legs until it’s level from side to side and front to back.

5) Know Sink Type -- There are three main types of sinks: enameled steel or stainless steel (both hold up well), cast iron (heavy duty, but hard to install), and fireclay (a ceramic material best installed by a professional plumber ). Sinks can also be made from copper, fiberglass, or plastic.

6) Know Sink Drain Type -- Sinks come with different drain types: basket strainers (basket holds food), pop-up drains (used for overflow and features a strainer), and deck plate (plastic plate covers the drain opening). Sinks installed in bathroom or laundry rooms will need a floor drain stopper combination. Check your local plumbing code.

7) Ensure Water Lines Properly Connect to Sink -- Sinks can be connected to either hot and cold water lines or both; look carefully at how your sink is attached before you begin installing it.

8) Turn Power Off At The Circuit Breaker Box -- Before attempting to install a new sink, be sure to turn off the power at your circuit breaker box. Sinks often have electrical lines going to them, and you don't want to risk damaging this equipment

9) Know Sink Drain Holes -- Sink drains come with many different drain hole patterns: they can be round or oblong; they may be open or closed on top; some sinks have a stopper mechanism (pop-up drain) built into the bottom of the sink drain assembly.

10) Be Mindful Of Sink Drains -- All drains require an opening for water to flow into it; if you are installing a new sink that does not already have one, make sure you create one. You can use plastic drainage fittings or make your own simply by using a thin piece of wood and drilling a hole in it for the drain.

Sink installation is something that can be done with some patience and careful planning; if you'd like to install one on your own, be sure you know what you're doing before getting started; or consider hiring a professional to do it instead. Sink Installation is indeed very tricky, but with proper care and caution anyone can do this.I think The post is very well written.
